Beyond the Rainbow

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.

I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.

For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

Hi, Mum Now that I’ve been across The Rainbow Bridge for a couple weeks, they said I should write a letter home. Sorry, mum, but I’m so busy ‘across the bridge’ that I haven’t thought of home much. They said it’s okay and that you would understand. I hope you do. (I think you will.) Remember that night when I wasn’t feeling very well and we were all crying? I don’t remember much, but I do remember seeing and hearing all of you and feeling your touches and hugs…I remember hearing 'we love you' and that one last command of 'Go through.' I didn’t know what you meant, so I turned around and walked through the fog that was in front of me. I saw the biggest bridge I’ve ever seen! And so many friends on the other side of it! They were all playing with toys and balls! You were right to tell me to go there! My feet kept moving forward, but my heart kept pulling me back. Your touches became lighter and lighter and I wanted to come back and nudge your hands for more love, but I was overcome by this feeling of curiosity for the happy place over the bridge! My feet started moving on their own, like a gentle breeze was moving them forward for me! I can’t explain it, but I had no doubt that it was the right thing to do! So, I walked across that big, huge bridge by myself! I looked for you, because you’re always by my side, walking with me, but this was different. I didn’t have a collar around my neck or a leash connecting me to you ~ I was ‘free!' Even though you weren’t there with me, I never felt alone! I actually felt like I had a huge cape of love wrapped around my body and the more I walked, the easier it was to breathe! So, I kept walking! And I would feel more warmth in the big hug, so I kept on walking! I eventually made it over the big bridge – I did it by myself, mum! When I got here, all of my new friends greeted me and helped me walk off the bridge ~ it was so cool! They gave me a pair of wings and said that I was now a Guardian Angel! What I’ve learned over these past few weeks has been amazing and nothing like I’ve seen before! We’re all the same up here ~ we all have wings and we all have Forever People to watch over ~ that’s YOU, mum! You’re my Forever Person and I’m your Forever Dog! We had such a great life together and I do miss you a LOT, but please know that I am so happy in my new home across The Bridge! I’ll send you another Earth Angel so you won’t be alone. Give them your whole heart, like you gave it to me. I’ll check in every so often to make sure they treasure your love ~ I always did! When you miss me, think of a rainbow and know I’m on the other side of it, waiting to walk with you again. I’ll always be in your heart. I love you, mum! Time for me to go play." The Day I found Gissi

I had been diagnosed with Emphasimea and COPD my world was falling apart ………………..the Job I had been doing for 8 years had bullied me out of my Job because of my Illness I felt lost and a Failure, I had always worked and then this………my Son and Daughter where my big rock my reason to carry on …………they decided that it was time to get me a Dog but they where going for a Puppy lol …..yes the Puppies where cute but I noticed a door and wondered what was in there and normally I would not be nosy ……….in the end Kennel which I thought at first was empty I saw 2 little eyes looking at me, they where scared little eyes ………………..I started talking to the little Dog that was there, I was told he is so scared that he will not go to anyone …not even the People that look after him, I sat myself on the cold wet floor and spoke to him ……… everyone was saying I was wasting my time I was also informed they can only keep him another 2 weeks and then they would have to put him to sleep
I sat there and just gently spoke to him, very slowly he started coming towards me, I could see the fear in him ……………….I sat there 30 minutes, he then came to very close, very gently I put my Hand in to stroke him, yes I took a chance but I did not care, he put his little Head into my Hand and I knew then he was the one and he was coming home with me ……………….they told me they had no age or history on him as he was brought in by the Police who had found him half beaten to death at the side of the road ………… my love and protection grew for the little Man and I promised him no one would ever hurt him again
Gissi………………………his first few Days with us
Gissi slept a lot the first few Days, he was very timid and would not leave my side but he would also growl at People a lot because of fear………..he had the bigger of Men, so we guessed that it must have been mainly a Man who abused him, so my Son started very slowly to earn Gissi’s trust it took a while…………my Daughter also taught him that he can trust People in the House, that he will not be hurt again ………………………….Gissi bit me a few times but only because I did something that scared him so badly…he was always sorry after and he was scared ……I told him it is ok and I will not do it again and all was good ………..Gissi fell ill the first time just a few weeks after joining us, we rushed him to the Vet to find out he had an allergy against Fleas he had to have an Injection to stop the fit he was having
He picked up again, he started to become more trusting ………….Mike and Mel where also winning with the little Man, slowly he was getting there of overcoming the majority of his Fear …..special the Fear of my Son, he was starting to trust my Son all was going well
